We Caught a Caterpillar!
This is Wiggley. We met Wiggley in the garden!
Wiggley was wiggling along the porch by the garden when we first brought him inside. Wiggley eats leaves and plants from the garden. The first thing Wiggley did when he got inside the container was play dead, because he was afraid of us. When he felt more comfortable, he wiggled a little and pooped.

Question of the Day:
What does it mean when a butterfly rubs its wings together?
Some butterflies have "false eyes" or "false antennae" on the outer edge of the wings to move attention away from the head. Attacking birds will always aim at the head of a butterfly, but are tricked into aiming at the tail. The butterfly is able to escape in the opposite direction unharmed.

Little Jim Jim

This is our pet cricket!
Little Jim Jim likes to eat bluberries, but he takes hours to finish just one!!

A Cricket Eating a Bluberry

We Caught Crickets!

We learned that they like bluberries!

We were able to outsmart the crickets by setting up a water bottle trap. The bait was some sweet bluberries at the bottom. The top of the water bottle was cut off and flipped, creating a trap that bugs could enter but not exit.
